Splatoon is an action-packed third-person shooter. It came out in 2015, developed by Nintendo, and quickly found a huge fanbase — especially among younger players and folks looking for something fresh.
Rather than the usual military themes and serious tone, Splatoon is all about color, creativity, and movement. You play as an Inkling, a character who can switch between human form and squid form. With ink-based weapons, you’ll cover the map, outplay opponents, and help your team win by splashing the most turf.
At its core, Splatoon isn’t about who gets the most kills. It’s about who covers the most ground with their team’s ink. That twist alone makes it way more tactical and creative than your average shooter. You’ll shoot ink across the map, swim through it in squid form, and even climb up walls. All while dodging enemy fire and fighting for control.
Turf War – 4v4 battles to ink the most territory before time runs out. Pure chaos and fun.
Ranked Battles – A bit more serious. Here, you play modes like Splat Zones or Tower Control, where objectives matter more than just paint.
Salmon Run – A co-op mode where you and a few friends fight off waves of wild fish creatures to collect golden eggs.
Ink, Not Violence: It’s fun, but not intense or violent. Great for all ages.
Switching Forms: Being able to swap between human and squid adds a cool layer of movement and tactics.
Style Counts: You can deck out your character with gear that actually changes how you play — not just how you look.
Live Events: Nintendo keeps the game alive with Splatfests, where players vote on themes and fight it out in themed matches.
Splatoon is fun, fast, and a little bit wild — but it’s not the only game like that. If you want something casual and browser-friendly, check out Stickman Hook Fragen or the fast-paced Stickman Hook Repuls. Both are perfect for killing time between matches.
Splatoon shows that shooters don’t have to be serious to be good. If you’ve never tried it, now’s the time — and while you’re at it, explore more fun games online. There’s a whole world out there beyond bullets and gray maps.
